SE Best Practice Circle (SE-BPC)

Alt Text

The SE Best Practice Industry Group (SE-BPC) is made up of companies that want to make the field of SE visible and practically applicable within the company. With the still young Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), it is also currently being raised to a new performance level.

However, an inconsistent understanding of SE and MBSE is currently preventing a cross-industry breakthrough as a central management and development paradigm. The SE Best Practice Circle, an industry working group of the Gesellschaft für Systems Engineering e.V., aims to change this. The initiators are the VIRTUAL VEHICLE Research Center (Graz) and the Fraunhofer Project Group for Mechatronic Design Technology (IPT-EM) Systems Engineering Management. Companies involved in the SE-BPC from the very beginning are AVL, Airbus Defence & Space, John Deere, Siemens AG Austria, Huf Hülstbeck & Fürst GbmH & Co. KG, Daimler AG, Claas KGaA mbH, BMW AG, Bernafon AG, AVL DiTest, VW AG, Audi AG and Schindler Elevator.

The SE-BPC is intended to establish a communication platform to meet this challenge. This exchange of experience is intended to ensure that the wide-ranging expertise of various industries is taken into account in the further development of systems engineering and MBSE. The participants are also multipliers for the topic in their own companies.

Current Goals

The common goals of all represented companies are:

  • Establish a common cross-industry understanding of SE/MBSE

  • Establish and revitalize the SE/MBSE communication platform

  • Facilitate the exchange of information among users on the topic of SE/MBSE

  • Further develop methodology, process integration and specific requirements for the IT infrastructure and derive recommendations for action from this.

The intended results are:

  • Products that bring direct benefits for the daily work of the participants, e.g. best practice examples or checklists
  • Position papers that record a common view of the participants on the topic and can be used for communication with tool vendors, consultants, etc.
  • Presentations, method and concept maps to multiply SE knowledge in your own company
