FAQs
Frequently asked questions about the GfSE
Access to the GfSE and INCOSE member area is different.
GfSE:
You should have received a “Welcome Letter” from GfSE when you registered. In this letter you will find all the information you need to register in the members' area.
INCOSE:
You should have received the access data from INCOSE. If not, there is a pragmatic solution. At INCOSE you have your own e-mail address with the ending @incose.org, which will be forwarded to your specified e-mail address.
The user for the INCOSE Connect area with all information and working groups is the beginning of this e-mail address. You can use it to log in and enter an incorrect password. You will then be redirected to a new page where you can reset the password. This will be forwarded to you again via the member e-mail address.
You can find information about the INCOSE Certification Program here
https://www.incose.org/certification/about-the-certification-program
On this pages you can also find the link to the company “Prometrics”, who is executing the tests for INCOSE. To sign up with Prometrics, you should have received an access code from INCOSE via e-mail. With this access, you can sign up for a testing day. In Germany we have four test centers where you can take the test. You can find all these information also through the link above.
No. The national as well as international working groups work via e-mail and web based. To work intensively face-to-face, INCOSE offers the International Workshop and the International Symposium. The GfSE working groups meet once a year at the Working Group meeting.
There are GfSE and international working groups of INCOSE. The GfSE working groups can be found on our website. An overview of the INCOSE working groups can be found on the INCOSE website https://www.incose.org/communities/working-groups-initiatives
Please use the form in the member area under “GfSE members” (login required) or send an e-mail to office@gfse.org.
Yes, absolutely. That's what the events are there for and they can be joined by anyone. We would, of course, be delighted if we could also be of interest to you in other areas and you would decide to become a member.
If you would like to become actively involved in the GfSE, please contact the Executive Board. The association thrives on active members.
The current fee and any discounts can be found on the homepage under “membership”.
Yes, you can. You can also pay your contribution to INCOSE and then assign yourself to a chapter, e.g. GfSE. You should do this if you live in a German-speaking country (DACH). At the moment, the money remains in the USA and the GfSE cannot work with it.
Most of the membership fee is paid to INCOSE. The costs are incurred through administration, support for international events and the specialist journals. A small portion remains with the GfSE and is put to the best possible use. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Executive Board.
If you do not receive the paid documents, please contact INCOSE Central directly ( info@incose.net). Please copy the Board of Directors ( office@gfse.org) so that we are aware of the problems.
INCOSE has changed the procedure since 2008. Membership includes a digital version of the Journal and INSIGHT magazine. However, you can still receive the journal in paper form, but you have to pay an additional few dollars to INCOSE Central.
As you are a member of a German association, you must inform us in writing of your intention to resign. This is very important for the GfSE, as it is regulated differently by law in the USA and therefore at INCOSE. Here you become a member for 1 year and if you do not extend your membership yourself, you are automatically no longer a member.
Yes, when you join GfSE as a member, you are also a member of INCOSE. You will have access to all the information that INCOSE makes available to all members. You can access this information using your personal INCOSE e-mail address and the password sent to you by INCOSE.
The GfSE workshop always takes place in February after the INCOSE international workshop. All GfSE members are invited and can meet and participate in different workshops. Content-related topics are also discussed via and with the Executive Board. A small time slot is always devoted to topics that affect and benefit the association.
GfSE organizes seminars and conferences on various topics. There are also cooperations that lead to a reduced participation fee for GfSE members. All current events can be found under “Events”. In addition, GfSE organizes a workshop for members in February each year, a working group meeting, and the general meeting after the Day of SE (TdSE) in October/November are important events.
Please send an e-mail to office@gfse.org or look under “contact” for current phone numbers.
We are pleased that you would like to become a member. Please use our application forms under “Downloads --> GfSE documents --> Membership forms”.
You should have received an e-mail confirmation from the GfSE Office. This means that you are now a member and can register as a member for any GfSE events.
With your GfSE membership you are also a member of INCOSE and this is where the membership numbers are managed. Unfortunately, this confirmation can sometimes take a moment. If you do not receive any feedback with access data for INCOSE from the USA, please let us know at office@gfse.org .
If you would like to register for the INCOSE ASEP or CSEP test after you have registered, please let us know in a separate e-mail to office@gfse.org so that we can speed up the process.
